- 1 round cob bread (sourdough works best)
- 5 Jatz / Ritz or other plain savoury crackers (crushed, Note 2)
- Oil spray
- Crackers, chips, or toasted bread (for serving)
Directions :
- Cook the chopped bacon in a non-stick skillet or fry pan over high heat until it is browned. Transfer the bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to drain the excess fat.
- In a heatproof bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, and garlic powder together until smooth.
- Stir in most of the bacon, all of the shredded cheese, and most of the chopped shallots or scallions.
- Microwave the mixture on high for 3 minutes. If there is some oil separation, stir well until it combines smoothly.
- If serving warm, pour the dip into a serving bowl and top with the remaining bacon and shallots.
- Serve with the crackers, chips, and the toasted bread that was pulled out for the bread bowl.
